If you wish to increase self-confidence you have to recognize that it has as much to do with attitude aside from ability.
I've known many individuals who, while they lacked skill in a specific area, completely 'oozed' confidence! I'm not talking about bragging about how excellent they are at tennis, or singing, or public speaking - when actually they're not. I'm speaking about feeling okay about not being good in those fields and doing them anyway!
A few things are simply not essential enough to stress about - however we do just the same and generate unnecessary anxiety for ourselves. They might have been your understanding of what someone said. Typically what we hear isn't what is meant, thus if I say "You're not very good at physical activities", you might hear that as a criticism or somebody saying "You're a failure!"
They may be based mostly on a particular experience you had that caused you to write down that message in your head yourself. Let's say you tried building a bookcase once however it didn't look very good once you finished it. Therefore, in your thoughts you believe you're no good at carpentry and would never try again.
